Job Title: MDR Packaging Engineer

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Duration: 12+ months contract

Job Description:

The Packaging engineer will be a Packaging coordinator and subject matter expert (SME) to work with the cross-functional team and Customer. This role will interface with the project team and to perform gap analysis of packaging requirements and update packaging design or carry out the required packaging testing to comply new regulations and/or support business needs.

Packaging engineer will facilitates the packaging activities to establish requirement, changes, update for healthcare product packages. This role will engage with and mobilize the cross functional team to resolve regulatory gaps effectively, be responsible for coordination between customer SMEs and offshore team and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years applicable experience in packaging engineering, medical devices, pharmaceutical or related industry preferred.

Preferred Experience:

• Strong communication, manufacturing process, product industrialization and leadership skills.

• Solid design, troubleshooting and presentation skills

• Knowledge of Lean and/or 6 Sigma

• Knowledge of GD&T

• Knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA

• Experience on sterilization packaging and verification

• Knowledge and Experience with packaging, assembly and manufacturing methods/equipment (ie: Sencorp bar sealers, Alloyd blister sealers and material sealing of PETG to tyvek, foil to tyvek, foil to foil, mylar to Tyvek).

• Knowledge and Experience with packaging material process and testing.

• Experience working in a regulated environment

• Knowledge of European Union Medical Device Regulations

• Experience in cross-functional, cross-geography coordination

• Experience working with cross-geography programs and teams

• Knowledge of process excellence, process improvement

• Demonstrated ability to drive a collaborative, customer-focused, learning culture

• Experience using Agile or a Product Lifecycle Management system preferred

• Excellent people and communication skills (verbal and written)

• Engineering and Problem solving tools:  MINITAB, SIX SIGMA, DOE, GR&R, CAPA, CAD, DMAIC

Required Skillset(s):

Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years applicable experience in packaging engineering, medical devices, pharmaceutical or related industry preferred.
