Position: Salesforce Administrator, Compass Family Services

About Compass: Compass Family Services helps homeless families and families at imminent risk for homelessness to achieve housing stability, family well-being, and self-sufficiency. We are the access point for any SF family facing a housing crisis and our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental assistance, early childhood education, mental health support, in addition to a broad spectrum of counseling, parenting education, prevention, and support services.

Reports to: Director of Impact & Learning

Salary: $70k-$75k annually

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm

Classification: Non-exempt, Full time (37.5 hours/week)

Position Overview

The Salesforce Administrator is responsible for managing all aspects of the database at Compass, including responding to daily help tickets, building out new functionality, managing 3rd party apps, and troubleshooting. Working closely with the Director of Impact and Learning and with program leadership, this is a highly collaborative position requiring discipline and keen attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Salesforce Administrator position revolves around two main areas: 1) supporting users and improving existing processes, and 2) training staff on new and existing Salesforce features.

Responsibilities

Salesforce Database Administration
  • Manage requests, troubleshoot issues, and work with programs and development staff to come up with technical solutions to needs.
  • Create, implement, and train staff on improvements through regular database releases.
  • Independently manage several technical projects (i.e., build out 3rd party integration, maintain Lightning Visualforce pages, color-coded formula fields).
  • Maintain and troubleshoot 3rd party apps and integrations and ensure consistency across agency.
  • Lead processes to ensure agency data is clean, accurate and backed-up.
  • Understand other databases agency staff must interact with to help troubleshoot use and minimize duplicate data entry.
  • Keep abreast of Salesforce releases and updates and inform the director of any necessary action.
  • Strategize and plan for the future health and security of the database.
  • Act as an Agency Lead for the ONE System, the Department of Homeless and Supportive Housing’s (HSH) Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Build out and maintain complex reports such as Salesforce Reporting Snapshots.

Organizational Learning/Knowledge Management
  • Onboard new staff to how to use the database for their role in the agency.
  • Train staff on new Salesforce functionalities, configurations and system-related processes.
  • Maintain and improve training curricula for staff.
  • Maintain the knowledge management website content for staff user adoption and for internal documentation purposes.
  • Create and strengthen systems for data collection, management, reporting and analysis.
  • Work in partnership with frontline staff and the leadership team to support Theory of Change initiatives towards a data-driven culture.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience administering a complex Salesforce database OR three years’ experience administering databases in a nonprofit environment
  • Experience with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) preferred
  • Ability to problem-solve complex database issues
  • Ability to communicate well across various levels in an organization and work collaboratively with people with a varying range of technical competencies
  • Strong analytical skills, customer-service orientation, and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-changing, multi-program environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Docs
  • An excitement about technology and its ability to positively impact the organization

  • Covid-19 Considerations

    Currently, this position is entirely remote, with most communication happening via email, phone, and video. In the longer term, the Salesforce Administrator may be able to work partially onsite and partially remotely.

    Compensation And Benefits

    Compass Family Services offers a competitive wage and benefits package that includes employer-paid medical, dental and vision coverage, long term disability insurance, and employer contributions to a retirement account. Full time employees receive approximately 4 weeks of paid vacation their first year, increasing to approximately 5 weeks in each year after, as well as generous paid sick and holiday leave and paid time off for education.
