Salesforce Developer (Turbonomic, Inc., Boston, Massachusetts): The Salesforce Developer is a software role encompassing architecture, design, coding, implementation, integration and testing. The role combines a fundamental understanding of coding logic and data with expertise in the Salesforce software architecture and security. The Salesforce Developer will design, build and customize the Salesforce software platform to meet Turbonomic’s business needs. The Salesforce Developer will work with our leaders and business users and will build the breakthrough software features that our employees and customers will love, adopt and use while keeping Turbonomic’s Hybrid Cloud Management Platform stable and scalable. The Salesforce Developer will continue integrating the Salesforce software platform with Turbonomic’s platform, with the goal of ensuring that Turbonomic designs, builds and configures custom and standard solutions correctly, tests them appropriately, and releases them with high quality to ensure that the combined platform meets business needs and keeps our trusted Turbonomic platform stable and scalable.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include
  • Design the new Salesforce Lightning software to deliver out-of-the-box tools and services to automate business processes and integrate with external applications to ultimately onboard 400+ users and to simply processes for business users.
  • Author the logic and code for customized workflows, approval processes, flows and processes, and layouts.
  • Build integrations with external software systems including data structures, field mapping, and rollouts, along with related triggers and process flows.
  • Create the declarative build of the new software which involves gathering and documenting requirements, implementing code, and configuring the new software.
  • Use object-oriented programming language including Apex to define the underlying user interface components and frameworks of the new Lightning software to support its integration with Turbonomic’s platform.
  • Design and build the data model of the new Lightning login configuration and migrate and transform data from the previous Salesforce system.
  • Test individual components of the build, code and database as well as the complete software system.
  • Implement and integrate Salesforce and connected systems from acquired companies into Turbonomic’s current organization.
  • Participate in daily team scrum meeting, regular project team meetings with Salesforce team, sales operations and business partners.
  • Perform individual project work and collaborate across teams on current projects and newly identified needs.
  • Collaborate with external vendors of systems.
  • Report and document progress.
  • Develop solutions for complex business processes and validate that the solutions meet the business needs and company goals. Collaborate with other technical team members on projects to design, test and deploy new solutions.
  • Support other business applications that co-exist in Turbonomic’s Salesforce platform and its supporting integrations.
  • Apply understanding of user needs, problem solving and troubleshooting fields, process logic and code, and create solutions to resolve high tier support tickets for Turbonomic’s Salesforce platform. High tier support tickets require an understanding of code, flow and logic, and infrastructure.
  • Work with business users to resolve programmatic issues and gather requirements for software enhancement requests. Build new custom processes and workflows into the software system as required.
  • Review user cases daily to triage and assign cases. Work with users to understand the context and issues. Collaborate with team members to resolve their cases or to provide input regarding resolving their cases.
  • Collaborate with external vendors on issues involving system integrations.
  • Lead regular meetings with key user and customer groups to ascertain that issues are resolved and that new issues are understood.


Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or a foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field and 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a Salesforce Systems Administrator/Developer or Salesforce Architect designing and implementing components in web-based applications.

Must also have (I) Demonstrated expertise in the Salesforce architecture and security model understanding; (II) Thorough understanding of object oriented and model driven architecture; (III) Demonstrated strong Salesforce development and debugging skills; (IV) Demonstrated academic coursework or industry experience: a. developing complex multi-threaded applications, b. modeling software, c. in architecture and design of components, and d. in cloud applications; (V) Coursework, other academic project or industry experience with APEX, Java, SOQL, SOSL, Object oriented design, principles of Cloud computing, and databases; (VI) Extensive background in XML, JSON, HTML, and common design patterns in web framework; (VII) Strong understanding and hands-on skills of Cloud based multi-tenant system; (VIII) Ability to deploy, integrate, and maintain business application and services in a production environment; (IX) Demonstrated knowledge of software development processes, ability to determine relevant timelines and milestones, and track record fulfilling the goals; and (X) Must have strong communication and team working skills.
