The role of a DevOps Systems Engineer combines aspects of a technical role and an IT operations role. Knowledge about coding languages and principles are helpful, but, unlike for developers, not essential. DevOps SE’s are likely to be involved in projects that include installing, configuring, and customizing Bucher + Suter software.
Main responsibilities
- Installing and configuring Bucher + Suter software at the customer (remotely or on-site)
- Traveling ~10% for installations and configurations at the customer’s site
- Supporting customers during user acceptance testing
- Supporting customers during the go-live procedure
- Providing product/service-related technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests
- Delivering technical presentations and conducting live product demos
- Educating customer staff by providing technical information and training
- Consulting involving demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements
- Working with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
- Working on and supporting ways to automate and improve development and release processes
- Participating in architecture and software development activities
- Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
- Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional communities
- Contributing to company effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives
Your profile
- General IT, Cisco Contact Center, CTI, and Salesforce CRM (Salesforce Service Cloud Product) knowledge are an advantage
- Salesforce CRM certifications are an advantage (e.g., Salesforce Administrator)
- Appropriate academic degree/school of engineering preferred
- Excellent team player with oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service and success
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Process-oriented with outstanding documentation skills
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Good attention to detail with an ability to analyze and specify adaptations of Bucher + Suter software products and services
- Experience with or knowledge of agile software development methodologies
- Programming/coding skills in Java, JavaScript, and jQuery are an advantage
- Eastern or Central Time Zone preferred
