The Job

This job provides for on-going customization, maintenance and support for Simple's Salesforce Lightning implementation, a mission critical system used by Customer Operations and Risk. You'll work with various groups within Simple, including Customer Operations and individual product engineering teams, as well as our external Salesforce engineering partner.

This job supports overall team health and performance by providing the Salesforce development expertise needed to deliver on requests from Customer Operations, Risk, Product and Engineering while preserving the maintainability of the overall implementation. Further, this job expects not only Salesforce expertise, but enthusiastic collaboration and communication, and customer focus.

The Team

The Salesforce development team is a small team that is responsible for working with product engineering teams, as they create amazing new customer-facing features, to build out Salesforce-specific components that support these new features in our internal customer service application. This team will also be responsible for Salesforce administrative duties in support of the changing needs of the Customer Operations teams, as well as the ongoing maintenance of the Salesforce app.

While Simple is based in Portland, Oregon, some of our larger engineering team works remotely, which means both local and remote candidates will be considered.

You enjoy solving difficult problems such as occur in distributed systems, care about metrics, monitoring, and testing. You're excited about working closely with people across the organization, from your direct teammates to members of ops, and customer service. You want to be a part of building something beautiful and meaningful, even if user interface isn't your specialty. You respond well to change, and can navigate the ambiguity and fluidity of shifting customer needs.

What You'll Do All Day
  • Collaborate with Business Analyst, other developers and QA to deliver high quality Salesforce customizations for use by internal Service Cloud users.
  • Using stakeholder requirements as input, create technical design documentation that effectively communicate solution strategies, risks and implementation choices.
  • Breakdown projects into small user stories and/or tasks and estimate the effort to complete them.
  • Use Salesforce configuration and/or write custom code to develop, test and deploy new features that satisfy acceptance criteria.
  • Review and give feedback on other developers code changes.
  • Support internal Salesforce users and participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation.
  • Actively contribute to the team's continuous improvement of processes, tools and deliverables.


We'd Like To See
  • Salesforce Platform Developer certifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience customizing Salesforce using Apex classes/triggers, Lightning Components (Aura and LWC) and Visualforce pages
  • 2+ years of experience customizing Service Cloud
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency with:
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership on projects and to peers
  • Professional experience using Agile methods and tools to plan and execute projects
