The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Tableau Developer in the President's Office at Spokane Falls Community College.

SFCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane. GENERAL DEFINITION
Reporting to the Director of Planning, Institutional Effectiveness, and Research, the Tableau Developer for Title III will work with users to define and build business intelligence solutions using Tableau dashboarding and reporting functions as well as database tools for SQL server. This position will: develop leadership, faculty and student-facing data visualizations and dashboards to support Title III grant activities designed to improve student achievement, engagement, retention, and completion; test, evaluate, improve existing procedures for data management; and provide BI and reporting to support compliance of Title III grant activities. This is a grant funded position that will conclude in three years 2023.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and translate data and information needs and requirements into customized reports, scorecards and dashboards and visualizations using Tableau software. *
- Develop, publish, revise, modify, and maintain complex information dashboards, reports, and visualizations from multiple data sources. *
- Provide ad hoc analysis as requested by Title III leadership. *
- Develop documentation for all relevant systems and data sources, including business rules, process mapping, data definitions and naming conventions. *
- Conduct unit tests and developing database queries to analyze effectiveness and troubleshoot issues. *
- Explain, show, and train in the use and navigation of dashboards and reports. *
- Assist with client support queries such as data integrity and validation questions. *
- Work effectively with the Title III team to identify, estimate, prioritize and resolve issues. *
- Support and advance the CCS strategic plan and perform related duties as required. *
- May use SQL Management and Reporting Studio or other data visualization and reporting software.
COMPETENCIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
- Two (2) years of experience in data visualization, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in developing, publishing, and maintaining Tableau-driven dashboards and analytics.
- Knowledge of Tableau best practices in performance tuning and user-centric design, proactive alerts, assigning permissions and publishing.
- Strong SQL and SQL Server experience required.
- Excellent listening/communication skills and the ability to articulate complex solutions well.
- Ability to follow through to completion on all assignments.
- Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
- A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.
- The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience working with data in higher education.
- Experience working with Canvas or other learning management system.
- Tableau Public profile links with published content.
- Experience with Tableau Server.
- Working knowledge of Tableau administration/architecture.
- Proficiency with other BI and analytic tools including R, Clik, Cognos, and SAS.
TOTAL COMPENSATION: $73,849 - $76,581.
Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:
- Base compensation, plus
- Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus
- Median retirement fund contributions.
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed in a normal, temperature-controlled office environment.

- Work involves constant interruptions and requirement to answer on demand questions by phone, in person, or electronically.
- Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation.
- Contract 12- month position.
- Position is exempt from Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- Criminal background check required.
- Requires local or regional travel. If using personal vehicle proof of driver's license and car insurance required.
