Genesis10 is seeking a Data Visualization Engineer for a contract position with a financial services company located in New York, NY.

Summary:

The COO Data Visualization Engineer operates within the COO Projects and Business Intelligence (PBI) function, reporting to the Business Analytics Manager.

The individual in this role should have a high degree of development and programming acumen, a deep understanding of data visualization engineering, API development, and business analysis skills. In order to be successful in this role, the individual will need to demonstrate aptitudes in interactions with senior and junior stakeholders.

Utilize expertise in information visualization and design to create and deploy new platforms and services for GFS visualization initiatives. This will include the use of advanced design and development skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Tableau to create high functioning/highly integrated dynamic visualizations from multiple data sources.

Additionally, this role is required to have API development experience, to assist in the development and deployment of custom Tableau extensions. This is a front-end design/visualization focused role, but also requires experience and knowledge of back end services. Additional tasks may include requirements analysis, solution design and workflow automation via Alteryx.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and deploy new web applications and visualizations using HTML, Advanced JavaScript, CSS, Tableau, internal frameworks and other tools.
• Building a narrative coupled with data and visuals to explain to an audience what's happening and why a particular insight is important.
• Developing and deploying custom Tableau extensions to allow for additional interactions with other applications directly within dashboards.
• Contribute new ideas/best practices by providing teams with information architecture skills to prototype new technology concepts and prove out strategic alternatives.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration with business users and peer technology teams.
• Provide on-going support and maintenance of technical workflows and visualization developments.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• 5 years experience in HTML / CSS / JavaScript
• Strong understanding and experience with Tableau
• Strong understanding and experience with Alteryx or similar tools
• Strong visualization, analytical, data modeling and investigative skills
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript using an Object Oriented approach
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design fundamentals
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, IT, MIS, or business related major

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to Node.js, Angular.js and other JavaScript frameworks
• Exposure to C#, WPF/XAML, Perl, SQL, scripting languages
• Advanced/Graduate degree in Engineering, IT, MIS, or business related major
• Technical certifications
• Experience with or understanding of AI, Machine Assisted Learning and Robotic Process Automation
• Working knowledge of global banking products & services
