What You’ll Be Doing…

Do you want to shape how data is changing our world? As a User Researcher for Analytics (Tableau Desktop and related features), you will be a central driver in developing experiences that empower people to see and understand data. You will leverage your knowledge and technical prowess in helping Tableau understand its current and future users . You will help individuals and organizations unlock the full potential of their data by removing barriers to analyzing data, answering questions, creating and publishing visualizations, and sharing insights. You will develop a deep knowledge of us er workflows and motivations, while uncovering barriers to self-service analytics within organizations. You will communicate insights to both leadership and feature teams to help drive analytics strategy and create experiences that customers need and love . In close partnership with D esign and Engineering, y ou will use your expertise in both qualitative and quantitative user research methods to define research problems and build research plans that address their most pressing questions about our customers and products.

Some job responsibilities include…
  • Build and execute user research plans using appropriate quantitative and qualitative methods to produce tactical and reusable customer insights.
  • Develop and share expertise related to how people create, share, manage , and utilize data visualizations and dashboards within organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to delight our customers through new features and user experience improvements .
  • Lead the translation of research findings and user feedback into actionable insights and opportunities .
  • C ommunicate insights and opportunities to business and feature teams .
  • Build and shape our user research team's tools and practices to scale our impact and create durable insights across the organization.
  • F ind and attract u ser r esearch talent .

Who you are…
  • Educated.   Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field.
  • Experienced.   3 or more years’ experience conducting u ser r esearch plus a strong portfolio of shipping software products. Experience working in enterprise software, analytics, databases, or cloud services is a plus.
  • Highly Technical.  You are curious about technology and can dive into complex or unfamiliar topics.
  • Knowledgeable.   Deep knowledge of best practices for UX design principles and both qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies.
  • Highly Analytical. Hands-on experience analyzing data and using analytic software products or relevant programming languages. You love understanding data, patterns and trends. Numbers are your friends. You can dig into the details but always see the big picture. Experience using one or more Tableau products (Desktop, Prep Builder and Conductor , Server, Online) is desirable.
  • Collaborative. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience working with multi-disciplinary agile teams.
  • Persuasive .   You have great communication and interpersonal skills. You can clearly communicate ideas, effectively present research insights to a variety of audiences, and generate persuasive written and multimedia reports .
