- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform across multiple cloud providers: AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure resources so that absolutely everything is created from an .tf file.
- Advanced CI/CD: Design, configure, and optimize advanced CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure pipelines or Github actions. Focus on achieving seamless automation of build, test, and deployment processes for software engineering code, IAC and machine learning models.
- Containerization and Orchestration: Spearhead containerization efforts using Docker and manage container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, lamdbas, especially in the context of deploying and scaling machine learning workloads.
- Scripting and Automation Mastery: Demonstrate expertise in scripting and automation, particularly with Python, to streamline and optimize complex manual processes and workflows related to machine learning and DevOps. For example, model pickling and loading, memory pressure. Calls to external libraries.
- Monitoring and Observability: Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar, ensuring exceptional system performance, reliability, and monitoring of machine learning model performance.
- Instrumentation, Alerting: Establish and maintain comprehensive instrumentation and alerting solutions using tools like cloudwatch -> SNS -> Pagerduty to ensure high availability of services with engineers on call in case there is an issue. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar, ensuring exceptional system performance, reliability, and monitoring of machine learning model performance.
- Security Best Practices: Collaborate closely with the security team to enforce robust security practices throughout the DevOps and MLOps pipelines. Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement necessary security measures. Regularly audits terraform for security vulnerabilities, cut tickets and assigns to software engineers for fixing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between development, operations, data science, and product teams. Provide technical leadership and support for troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure, deployment, and machine learning-related issues.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure configurations, deployment procedures, and MLOps workflows. Share knowledge and mentor junior team members in MLOps practices.
- Scalability and Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, analyze usage patterns, and lead initiatives for infrastructure scaling and optimization, with a particular focus on machine learning model scalability.
- Disaster Recovery and Resilience: Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and backup solutions to ensure data integrity, high availability, and model recovery.
- Stay at the Cutting Edge: Keep abreast of the latest advancements and trends in DevOps, MLOps, and automation, continually evaluating and implementing industry best practices.
- Innovation and Problem Solving: Encourage innovation and creative problem-solving within the team, contributing to the evolution of DevOps and MLOps processes.
- Decentralized approach: writes IAC with an eye towards teaching others how-to contribute and update resources in DEV, STAGING and PROD accounts.
