Position Summary

The Scrum Master is responsible for instilling Agile principles across the team and providing agile coaching across Berkadia as an organization.  This includes guiding the team through all Scrum events (Planning, Standup, Reviews and Retrospectives) and working relentlessly to remove any blockers or impediments being encountered by the team.  The Scrum Master must be creative, energetic and passionate about Agile and Scrum and have a good understanding on how to scale Agile across the larger organization.  Note that the ideal candidate for this role is an individual who has worked as a software developer and understands the technical complexities of new product development.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties (Primary Responsibilities) include the following.

• Doing everything to delight our customers
• Encouraging an environment of team self-organization
• Maintaining light-weight metrics for the purposes of inspecting and adapting
• Building a trusting environment that encourages collaboration and creativity
• Facilitating conversation between the development team members and the end users
• Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
• Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
• Being an overall servant leader to the team
• Training and coaching Agile and Scrum principals to both team members and individuals in the larger Berkadia environment, including senior leadership
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises non-supervisory employee(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience required.

• Adhere to Berkadia’s policies and exhibit proficiency and understanding of Berkadia’s Values and position-specific skills.
• Scrum Certification: (CSM, CSPO, CSP, PMI-ACP, SAFe)

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Previous Experience

Three to five years prior experience in a similar position.

Previous experience as a Software Developer highly desired.
