Job description:

1. Provide operational support of services on the Azure Cloud platform.
2. Lead in ongoing platform improvements by enhancing the banks’ Azure capabilities, promoting
3. operational efficiencies, decreasing time to market while increasing environment consistency and resilience.
4. Contribute to the strategic operational roadmap of the bank & Azure Cloud platform
5. Develop the bank’s operational model for supporting Azure technologies
6. Promote the Infrastructure platform team to the wider bank and D&T departments.
7. Support the adoption of cloud technology and automated code driven deployments by working as part of the Infrastructure Platforms team
8. Raise awareness of Cloud related operational risks by regularly evaluating and escalating them via the bank & risk framework.

Preferred Qualification:

1. Must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A-C or equivalent qualification.
2. Must have a minimum of 2 A & Levels grade A-D or equivalent qualification.

Required Experience:

1. In-depth experience in working and supporting cloud infrastructure like Azure.
2. In-depth practical experience in working in a Windows and Linux enterprise environment.
3. In-depth experience in supporting Windows and Linux operating systems.
4. Experience in database administration like Microsoft SQL Server.
5. In-depth experience in deploying Cloud infrastructure using immutable methodologies.
6. In-depth practical experience in supporting enterprise IT infrastructure or business applications deployments.
7. In-depth experience in network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP, NFS, SMB).
8. Practical experience in developing scripts in PowerShell and Bash.
9. In-depth practical experience in managing infrastructure using Terraform.
10. In-depth practical experience in configuring infrastructure components using Ansible.
11. In-depth experience in using a common version control system like Git in a team environment.
12. Experience in traditional and agile development/project methodologies.
13. In-depth practical experience in CI\CD pipelines, like Azure DevOps.
14. Experience in automated testing.
15. Experience of leading and growing an Azure team function within an organization

Desired Experience:

1. Understanding of developing scripts in Python.
2. Proven experience as a lead engineer in an Azure Cloud transformation project.
3. Experience in containers and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes

Key Responsibilities:

(A)Operational Support:

1. Understand common best practice working methods, processes and tools, across the Azure estate, in the ongoing development of the bank & cloud services.
2. Ensure cloud services meet the agreed non-functional requirements, such as service levels and availability.
3. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems within the cloud environment and across the bank & other platforms.
4. Stay current with new technologies, development methods and trends relating to cloud technology and information technology more broadly.
5. Produce technical documentation supporting the design and operation of the bank’s azure operating environment.
6. Ensure the azure platform is running in a cost-efficient way, without reducing resilience or increasing risk of service disruption.
7. Support pre-production acceptance testing to help assure the quality of the bank’s cloud based technology services.
8. Ensure the bank & cloud database platform is compliant with the relevant license agreements and regulatory obligations.

(B)Security:

1. Ensure system security is maintained through the use of best-in-class cloud security solutions.
2. Take ownership for the security of the technology you work with, and the azure platform as a whole, ensuring best practice security principles are adopted by default and security vulnerabilities are proactively identified and dealt with.

(C)Risk:

1. Ensure that any known risks related to the Azure Platform are made visible through the bank's risk framework.

(D)Senior Specific:

1. Proactively identify, design and develop new features and capabilities within the laaS cloud platform.
2. Proactively identify operational improvements to the Azure platform
3. Own the shape and future growth of the Azure platform support team at the bank 
4. Participate in strategic project planning meetings and provide guidance on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits, to allow timely and accurate planning of projects.
