About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Security Architect to join our team. In this role, you will develop strategic IT roadmaps, solutions, and standards for the security domain, ensuring effective governance and control and the delivery of business requirements, whilst minimising IT risk and optimising the IT estate.

The Security Architect is responsible for developing and maintaining security architectures to support as Usual and Project activities. Reporting to the Head of Operational Architecture, the Security Architect will support the delivery of solutions that ensure that operates within its risk appetite for Information Risk Management.

Responsibilities:

Operating within the bounds of the Senior IT Architect role profile, the Security Architect will have the following domain specific responsibilities:

1. Support the definition and creation of Security Architecture artefacts for including:
2. Security Related Standards and Design Principles
3. Creation and Maintenance of Design Patterns
4. Architectural and System Building Blocks
5. Creation and Maintenance of 3–5-year roadmaps for Security related products including establishing and maintaining vendor relationships
6. Establish effective relationship with 2nd line defence teams to ensure that:
7. policies and risk appetite is understood
8. Defined Security Architectures reflect the policy and risk appetite of
9. Establish effective relationships with other members of the 1st line of defence to ensure that the current threats and security events are understood and factored into the roadmap and solution for security architectures
10. Ensure that the Information Assets can be protected against insider and external threats through the provision of Security Architectures
11. Work with suppliers of Security related services to ensure that the services are providing appropriate coverage of the technology landscape so that Information Assets can be protected, and risks managed within risk appetite
12. Ensure that security architectures remain fit for purpose by the monitoring of specific and industry threats through establishing relationships and working with other members of the IT Security team and Security service providers to ensure that security architectures are fit for purpose
13. Production of Security viewpoints to support the creation of project related ISA and SDA documents across all architecture domains (Application, Data, Infrastructure/Technology and Service)
14. Work with project stakeholders to ensure that Security Architecture requirements are effectively incorporated into project solutions and deliveries
15. In collaboration with Group Procurement and business stakeholders, the preparation and execution of supplier and technology selection processes
16. Where required, lead, manage, motivate and develop direct reports
17. Provide subject matter expertise to assist with the impact assessment of operational incidents and IT Change to support effective decision making
18. Deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with Line Management.

Desired Qualifications:

1. CISSP or equivalent
2. TOGAF 9 Foundation
3. ITIL Practitioner
4. Prince 2 Foundation
5. COBIT Foundation

Experience and Knowledge:

1. Experience in playing a key role within an IT delivery function
2. Broad experience across all aspects of an IT Service
3. Working knowledge of all Architectural domains
4. Security Domain experience including
   1. Working within Security related projects and service provision
   2. Managed Security Service Provision
   3. Protection and Detection Capabilities
   4. Threat Intelligence and Analytics
5. Experience of working to tight deadlines
6. Working knowledge of:
   1. Emerging technologies and standards
   2. Wider IT market issues
   3. Architectural standards and methodologies e.g. TOGAF
   4. Architectural design patterns
7. Excellent presentation & influencing skills
8. Good working knowledge of change lifecycle skills:
   1. Analysis & Requirements management,
   2. Functional Decomposition,
   3. Business models,
   4. Data model
